Celebrate trees this Arbor Day!
It was first observed in 1872 in Nebraska, thanks to J. Sterling Morton, who recognized the need for tree planting in the prairie landscape. Today, Arbor Day is celebrated worldwide, with individuals and organizations planting trees to promote environmental sustainability, improve air quality, and combat climate change.
Planting a tree on Arbor Day is a simple yet impactful way to contribute to a healthier planet. Whether in backyards, parks, or urban spaces, trees provide shade, reduce erosion, support wildlife, and enhance the beauty of our surroundings.
By participating in Arbor Day, we help create greener, more resilient communities for years to come.
the Town of Parker is having an Arbor Day celebration on April 26th at Discovery Park starting at 9am. A fun, educational event that the whole family can enjoy is planned, and is an important piece to keeping Parker named as a "Tree City USA".
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
