Azomite
Azomite is a natural volcanic rock dust mined in Utah, containing over 70 trace minerals. It is widely used as a soil re-mineralizer and organic fertilizer to improve root systems, crop yields, and plant health without burning foliage or altering soil pH.

These trace elements support many plant processes, including enzyme activity, nutrient uptake, root development, and stress tolerance. How to Apply Calcium Nitrate

- Lightly work it into the top inch of soil if possible.
- Water thoroughly after application to help move the nutrients into the root zone.
- Apply about 1 pound per 100 square feet (or follow the product label), then water deeply.
- When plants begin active growth.
- Just before flowering or fruit set.
- Every 2–4 weeks during the growing season for heavy feeders like tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, and corn.
Avoid overapplying, as too much nitrogen can encourage lush foliage at the expense of flowers and fruit.
How to Apply Azomite
For garden beds:
- Spread 1–2 pounds per 100 square feet over the soil surface.
- Gently rake it into the top few inches of soil if possible.
- Water well after application.
- Sprinkle a handful around the drip line (the area beneath the outer edge of the plant's canopy), then water thoroughly.
- Mix 1–2 tablespoons per gallon of potting mix when planting, or lightly scratch a small amount into the surface of existing pots.
Because Azomite releases minerals gradually, one application per year is often enough, although some gardeners apply a light second application in midsummer.
Important Summer Tips
- Apply fertilizers during the coolest part of the day.
- Water before and after fertilizing if the soil is very dry.
- Never apply calcium nitrate to drought-stressed or wilted plants without watering first.
- Avoid fertilizing during periods of extreme heat (above 90–95°F) if plants are under significant stress.
