Bet you didn't know that Colorado has a Giant Vegetable Club!
Rocky Mountain Giant Vegetable Growers Club holds yearly weigh-offs and gives prizes for the heaviest, prettiest, and ugliest pumpkins, and also the largest tomatoes, sunflowers, long gourds, green squash and more. The final weigh off was October 19th in Peyton, Colorado at Smith Farms.
Jared's Nursery and Garden Center, Nicks Garden Center, Fort Collins Nursery and Smith Farms hosts the official GPC weigh-offs each year where hundreds of families show up to see the giants.
The GC website also has resources for how to grow giant vegetables, and even how to build a hoop house.
