Crispy baked apple chips is a great way to save money, reduce processed snack consumption, and make your house smell like a cinnamon heaven
Baked Apple Chips
2 firm, medium sized apples (any sweet-crisp apple will work i.e. Pink Lady, Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp)
2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 225 degrees F. Core apples and slice into very thin rings.
- Place the apple rings on a silpat or parchment paper lined baking sheet in a single layer.
- In a small bowl, mix together sugar and spices. Sprinkle over apple rings.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven. Baking time will depend on the thickness and water content of your apple slices. They should be done in 1 ½ to 2 hours. You’ll know they’re finished when they’re crisp.
Notes:
Store your crunch apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Baking the chips at a low heat is key to crispy success.
Enjoy these chips on top of salads, with oatmeal, and right out of the container. These chips are budget-friendly, easy to make for groups large and small, healthy yet slightly sweet, and a kid-friendly snack that's easy to carry.
