These can handle what Mother Nature throws at us in Springtime
Not many flowering plants can handle cold and snow (and those random ice storms) we get in Spring, but the plants listed below are champions at looking good even after a Spring snowstorm:
Flowering Stock - array of colors and a rich spicy clove scent; beloved old-fashioned flower. Annual, and not deer resistant
Sweet Pea - another old-fashioned fave - these fade once summer heat arrives. Deer resistant.
Pansy - tried and true, pansies brighten any container or planting bed and comes in a rainbow of colors. Hit or miss deer resistant.
Peony - always a favorite and the deer don't touch them
Catmint - blooms starting in Spring and continues through fall if given a haircut halfway through summer. Super easy to grow but does reseed. Deer resistant.
Periwinkle - excellent groundcover with dark green foliage and pretty little periwinkle blue flowers. Deer resistant.
Candytuft - pretty white clusters grow about 6 inches tall. Pretty in a border. Supposedly deer resistant (hit or miss).
